Enel X Korea surpasses 400 Demand Response customers

Enel X demonstrates leadership across all Korea Power Exchange (KPX) Demand Response programs, reinforcing Korea’s grid and clean energy transition

Seoul, October 14, 2025 – Enel X Korea, the country’s leading independent aggregator of Demand Response and energy solutions, today announced that it has surpassed 400 customers in Korea’s Reliability Demand Response (DR) program marking a new milestone in its growth and market leadership. Enel X Korea is the only provider active across all Demand Response program categories operated by the Korea Power Exchange (KPX), including: Reliability, Voluntary, Holiday, Plus, and Under-Frequency Response (UFR) Demand Response.

We are proud to be the only operator in every KPX Demand Response program. Our growth to more than 400 customers reflects the trust Korea’s businesses place in Enel X to deliver reliable, flexible, and profitable energy solutions,” said Hyoungmin Kim, Country Manager, Enel X Korea. “By leveraging our global know-how and operational excellence, we will continue to support Korea’s policy direction, enhance market stability, and drive the nation’s energy transition.”

Enel X Korea’s customer portfolio is strategically diverse, spanning including data centres, steel and metal manufacturers, paper and cement industries, large industrials, and public institutions, across both metropolitan and regional areas. This diversity allows the company to respond flexibly to dispatch events when the grid needs it most.

With customers ranging from high-load industrial sites to small businesses, Enel X Korea proves that Demand Response is not only for the big players,” Kim added. “Many businesses can play a role in stabilising the grid, and can benefit by lowering costs, earning new revenue, and achieving sustainability targets.

Enel X Korea’s competitive edge is backed by Enel Group’s 9.8+ GW global Demand Response portfolio, and deep experience across advanced markets such as Europe, the U.S., Ireland, the U.K., and Australia. In Korea, Enel X has been a pioneer, co-developing the UFR alongside KPX, the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), and HODI in 2018.This collaboration helped launch Korea’s first UFR Demand Response program in 2020.

The company also offers integrated solutions to provide multi-tiered revenue opportunities for participants beyond Reliability Demand Response. For example, Plus Demand Response rewards customers for increasing consumption to counteract grid instability, rather than the Reliability program focus on reducing demand. UFR Demand Response provides real-time frequency response services. These programs give participants financial returns that can be reinvested into new energy projects, operational efficiency, or ESG-driven initiatives.

“Demand response is no longer just about reducing load, it’s about providing flexible, two-way solutions that build resilience, create revenue, and accelerate the energy transition,” said Kim.

Since entering the Korean market in 2014, Enel X Korea has expanded from Demand Response services to rooftop solar project investment and operation, and RE100 consulting. Today, the company supports more than 400 industrial, commercial, public sector, and academic customers, helping them improve energy efficiency and operational competitiveness. Enel X is committed to leading Korea’s evolving Demand Response programs, while leveraging its global expertise to accelerate Korea’s clean energy transition.
