Enel X’s technological innovations remain at the forefront when it comes to energy and environmental sustainability issues on a global scale. As a result, Head of e-Industries Eliano Russo will be speaking at leading energy ecosystem-dedicated events across the globe, to contribute his expertise and know-how with a proactive approach in the spirit of open-source sharing.
Enel X created the Innovation Labs, which are our springboard for developing new business models and generating ideas that are then nurtured into opportunities. Therefore, we simply had to be part of the Italian Open Lab programme’s cycle of seminars on technological innovation, which took place on May 10 at the Italian Air Force headquarters in Rome. Organised to examine energy issues in the defence sector, the event also jump-started discussion between the leading stakeholders in the energy transition process.
Also this month, from May 22 to 24, the Head of e-Industries will be taking part in a major event in Amsterdam on the topic of energy flexibility, a very important issue to Enel X given its world leadership in Demand Response. New technologies are the most powerful tool of all when it comes to improving the stability and flexibility of the electricity grid and are consequently creating a whole new energy paradigm. At the “7th Grid Integration & Electricity Ancillary Services” event, the subjects of decarbonisation, energy demand flexibility improvement through the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and ancillary services (i.e. the services necessary to guarantee a secure electricity system) will all be under discussion.
On our return to Rome, we will be attending the “Europe Solar + Energy Storage Congress” on May 23 and 24 where we will be sharing our experience in energy storage for energy-intensive customers as part of the “Adding Storage Systems for Heavy Power Users: Capital Concerns & Built Cases” panel. Enel X offers its industrial customers a variety of Energy Storage solutions that allow them to store the photovoltaic power they produce in special batteries. They can then use this electricity at times when grid power costs are higher or when their own system, e.g. photovoltaic, is not producing enough energy to satisfy their requirements in that particular moment.
At the end of the month, on May 30 and 31, Eliano Russo is also pencilled in to take part in the second “EY Energy Forum – Power to our Planet” forum at the Palazzo di Varignana in Castel San Pietro Terme, just outside Bologna. Organised by Ernst & Young, the forum aims to foster dialogue between stakeholders and outline evolutionary scenarios to develop new proposals and thus boost networking between the main actors in the energy sector. Sustainability, climate change, decarbonisation, energy efficiency and e-mobility are just some of the key subjects that will be tackled by the event’s various panels.
Continuing with the theme of renewable energies, which are always central to Enel X’s solutions, we will also be attending the 20thAnnual Renewable Energy Finance Forum (REFF), which takes place in Frankfurt on June 6 and 7. The event centres around the European transition to clean energy and we will be on the panel dedicated to strategies to facilitate the move to a carbon-free future in Europe. The policies and investments necessary to achieve the fixed targets, and the geopolitical consequences the global energy transition will entail, will all be analysed in detail.
