What are the deadlines and penalties associated with energy audits?

The energy audit needs to be submitted every 4 years.

The first deadline was in 2015 (5 December). The next deadline will be December 5 2019, however, it is advisable to instigate the energy consumption measurement phase in 2018 to ensure compliance with the audit. It is therefore essential to start at once.

If the documentation is not submitted by the set deadline, administrative penalties of up to 40,000 euros can be imposed and if the audit does not comply with the requirements, a fine of up to 20,000 euros can be incurred. The fine does not exempt a company from carrying out the audit, the results of which must nonetheless be communicated within six months of the imposition of the penalty.
