The EVA+ Project: from Italy to Austria with no emissions thanks to the new fast charging stations
The 400 Fast Recharge stations of the EVA+ project, a comprehensive network linking Italy and Austria which includes 180 stations installed by Enel X in Italy and 20 by SMATRICS in Austria, are now all active.

The EVA+ project was launched in 2016 with the aim of installing, in just three years, 200 e-vehicle charging stations on extra-urban routes in Italy and Austria; of the total 180 are located in Italy and 20 in Austria. In July 2019, the “Electric Vehicles Arteries in Italy and Austria” project, co-financed by the European Commission as part of the Connecting Europe Facility Transport programme, and coordinated by Enel in collaboration with the Austrian utility VERBUND and the car manufacturers Nissan Italia, Renault, BMW Group Italia and Volkswagen Group Italia, successfully reached its target on time.
The 400 fast charging points (each station has two charging points), providing 50 kW DC and up to 43kW AC, are already operational on the main, long-transit routes in Italy and Austria. The multi-standard stations and innovative ICT solutions of the international network connecting Sicily to Austria make it possible for drivers to “fill up with energy” quickly and easily. The technology of the Fast stations installed in Italy, developed entirely by the team at Enel X, can charge two e-vehicles at the same time in about 30 minutes and is compatible with all e-vehicle models currently available on the market and compliant to the highest international standards of e-mobility: CCS, CHAdeMO and Type 2.
