I turn my bicycle on and leave the house. It’s a beautiful day out here. The silence and my bike just at the right speed seem perfect to appreciate another day that begins.
I haven’t used a car to get to work for four years and this makes me feel I am on the right path. Suddenly, a thought comes to mind: it’s already been 14 years dedicated to an Enel Group company. Wow, has it been that long?
I turn the corner and feel recharged by the energy brought by the experience of all these years. Engineering, marketing, logistics, quality, supply… I’ve passed through several of the Group’s departments to get here. The Enel X building is right in front of me. I park the bicycle and go in.
In my head, I relive all the times I have had to reinvent myself, apply my entrepreneurial side to add value to the projects I took part in. This delights me. It seems like I have learned a lot in that time and there is still so much to learn. This company is indeed a university!
I open the window and start to reflect on how immense Brazil is. This country, with its continental dimensions, has a great potential to engage with energy in an innovative, more sustainable, more responsible way. I roll my sleeves to the middle of my forearm and think, it is time to make it happen.
I understand that I am part of a company that is exactly at the right place, at the right time. We are at the forefront of the development of offerings to the market. We are today a reference in the country in solar energy and electrical infrastructure solutions, and we also have relevant customers in energy efficiency. More: we actively work with institutions and regulatory bodies to build the backdrop for the introduction of new products, such as energy demand management and electric mobility.
New challenges arrive at every moment. We are the point of convergence between suppliers, consumers, digital platforms and the market. I see we are down the path to consolidate and expand our mature services, and work strongly on the implementation of new solutions. I keep an open mind. What will the next challenge be?
I see customers that are ever more connected, moving away from being passive consumers at a fast pace. They want to be central actors, to produce and manage the energy at their home or company, to be part of an interconnected and smart energy structure throughout the city, which promotes more efficiency and sustainability for all.
Looking to the future, I feel we are becoming more present in a collaborative way in the life of citizens, companies and society as a whole. A more advisory presence, indicating the best options to create value, promoting a new experience in the use of energy.
For companies, we offer innovative digital solutions to produce, store and trade the necessary energy for each type of business. More predictability, more control, fewer risks and greater return on investment.
I also remember how we will help to build a new ecosystem that integrates public lighting, electric mobility, automation solutions and equipment management. Digital Cities. I know this dream is possible.
I review the whole process in my head. By getting closer to people, we can take to them more bespoke offers, that meet their specific needs. Solutions centred on the clients.
For some, for example, we offer in an innovative way products and services (micro-insurance, personal loans, health services) previously unreachable because of the lack of access to credit or means of payment. The energy bill became these people’s passports to these services. This is our way of making a difference.
I turn off the light. I have a good feeling when I collect my electric bike to return home. I look back and see Enel X’s building. I feel thankful and privileged to be part of this story and to be able to write the next chapters.
The energy moves me to the future. We’ll meet there!
