Consortium Luz de Angra, also formed by the companies Selt Engenharia and Mobit, participated in the signing of the contract today, in Angra dos Reis
Niterói, October 29, 2020 - Enel X Brasil, the Enel Group's business line dedicated to innovative products and digital solutions, participated in the contract signing ceremony today (10/29) to manage the lighting park in the municipality of Angra dos Reis, located in Rio de Janeiro. The company, alongside firms Selt Engenharia and Mobit, will be responsible for modernising and managing the city’s public lighting system for a period of 15 years. This is the first PPP project the company will operate in the country, aligned to Enel X strategy of investing in public lighting in Brazil with technology and efficiency.
Investment in the project is of approximately R$ 22 million, according to the amount provided in the public notice. Enel X will modernise around 20,000 illumination points using LED in the city, including about 2,000 remote-controlled lamp posts. The company will also implement a control centre to monitoring 24 hours a day, with customer service by phone, internet and mobile app, and will modernize architectural lighting in strategic monuments, such as Casa de Cultura Poeta Brasil dos Reis, Senhor do Bonfim Chapel and Casa de Cultura Larangeiras, based on the experience of over 1,500 illumination projects that have been performed by Enel X in Italy.
In Brazil, many urban public lighting systems still depend on traditional lights that use obsolete and inefficient light sources. They have different negative impacts, such as low quality and more light pollution, frequent outages and very high consumption levels. We will allow the Angra dos Reis public administration to transform the lighting infrastructure into a valuable asset that will make urban areas more accessible and will ensure the city itself is safer, more modern, efficient and attractive. The deal is a landmark for Enel X in Brazil, aligned to the e-City global strategy of promoting new solutions for cities: public lighting, smart cities, energy efficiency and public transport”, stated Francisco Scroffa, head of Enel X Brasil.
