UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic has partnered with Enel X Ireland for over a decade to support Ireland’s electricity grid through demand response and frequency response services. By making its backup generator available during periods of grid stress, the hospital helps support grid stability while maintaining uninterrupted patient care and clinical operations.
Since joining the programme in 2014, the clinic has successfully integrated energy flexibility into its operations with zero impact on staff, patients or clinical services. The programme also supports regular generator testing and maintenance, helping ensure critical backup infrastructure remains in peak condition while unlocking additional system services revenue.
