Enel X Argentina installed high-power luminaires in the outdoor area of Penitentiary Unit 42, in Florencio Varela, province of Buenos Aires, with the aim of improving lighting conditions and contributing to efficient energy consumption.
This action is part of a project developed by Enel X Argentina with the Bonarense Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Province, which consists of providing, installing and adapting the external lighting network of six prison units.
Energy and cost savings
In total there are 116 equipments, including projectors and lamps, that illuminate a space of 500 x 100 meters, the perimeter of the structure located on 50,000 square meters, which guarantee absolute visibility and improve the security conditions of the entire area.
For this work, which lasted just over a month, two crews and two supervisors worked to guarantee the highest quality and speed at each stage, from the adaptation of the underground pipelines to the installation of the equipment.
Smart lighting expansion
Luciano Imperiale, from Enel X Argentina, highlighted that this high-power equipment can be easily integrated into the remote management system, which generates savings in consumption, operability and maintenance, and promotes the digitization of the information targeted by the world's smart cities.
For his part, Damian Elfi, provincial director of Logistics Support of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Province of Buenos Aires, pointed out that the focus of this work is to provide a comprehensive energy management and efficiency service, allowing energy optimization to reduce the impact on the environment and also the costs.
“Before the project we were in a situation of high light consumption. Today the lighting both inside and outside the walls is much sharper and brighter, which allows better visibility and greater safety, as well as energy and cost savings ”, said Elfi.
Juan Erize, country manager of Enel X Argentina, highlighted that the replacement and installation of LED technology is generating a significant improvement in lighting in the streets of Buenos Aires and contributing to energy efficiency. "This is an expansion plan for intelligent lighting, which aims precisely to become 100% LED."
