“This contract further confirms our expansion in the demand response market following the recent success at the first auction in Ireland that underlined our position as a leading provider of advanced energy management solutions. We are eager to use our experience and expertise in Japan’s increasingly competitive energy market, offering solutions that support a stable energy supply in the country”
The tender is part of the liberalisation process taking place in the Japanese energy sector, which is currently transitioning to a market for ancillary services that should be operational by 2020. EnerNOC has been present in Japan since 2013 with its participation in a joint venture with Marubeni Corporation, one of the country’s largest trading companies.
Demand response programs are aimed at companies that consume large amounts of energy, such as manufacturing industries, data centres and real estate companies, helping them adapt their energy consumption to the requirements of the electricity grid. Demand response provides greater stability to the grid, while also ensuring flexibility and efficiency.
