The Modena Military Academy has held a congress on digital security, hosting important representatives from public institutions, the military, the scientific world and the energy sector. The day-long event, which consisted of round tables and panel discussions, was held at the Ducal Palace, and saw dozens of detailed technical talks, such as those by Undersecretary of Defence Gioacchino Alfano and Enel X CEO Francesco Venturini.
The congress was divided into two sessions. The morning meetings focussed on the security of networks and industrial cluster systems for critical energy infrastructure, investigating new horizons, while the afternoon was dedicated to discussions centred on the proposal for energy efficiency for the Military Academy and safeguarding the Ministry of Defence’s property portfolio.
During the morning session detailed consideration was given to the use of artificial intelligence in assessing the energy resilience offered by automation systems, the transverse nature of cyber-security and the contribution made by the digital transformation to networks security. The second series of meetings looked at energy efficiency opportunities for the historically-significant properties belonging to the Ministry of Defence, with a planning analysis of financial proposals and resources.
Enel X CEO Francesco Venturini took part in a panel on the digitalisation of the energy sector that summarised the progress of the digital revolution and described the transition period the energy sector is currently going through, with special emphasis on the development of e-mobility. The need to meet the requirements of imminent future scenarios, which will involve a substantial increase in available renewable resources compared to traditional sources of supply, is driving this transformation.
The Enel X CEO used the central section of his contribution to provide a thorough overview of the various elements making up today’s energy ecosystem and the benefits that can be gained along the value chain. He went on to focus on Enel’s strategy for the digital revolution, in which the Group is playing an important role with innovative sustainable business models, especially in light of the Group’s investments over the next two years, totalling around 5 billion euro.
Francesco Venturini gave the participants a snapshot of e-mobility in Enel X, describing its progress from intelligent charging infrastructure to the Electric Mobility Management platform for O&M services and JuiceNet intelligent aggregation software for e-vehicle batteries.
