The project for the installation of ultra-fast charging stations in Italy, France and Spain was officially presented in Brussels and will be launched by the end of 2018

European e-mobility becomes ultra-fast with E-VIA FLEX-E

A total of 14 ultra-fast charging stations will be provided by "E-VIA FLEX-E mobility in Italy, France and Spain", a project coordinated by Enel and co-financed by the European Commission.

E-VIA FLEX-E was launched in December and was officially presented in Brussels on 13th February at an event that saw Enel's Program Manager, Giovanni Coppola, introduce the project.

During the morning presentation, Federico Caleno, Head of E-mobility Solutions Development at Enel X, outlined the experience of Enel X in electric mobility.

E-VIA FLEX-E was conceived with the aim of trialing a network to enable new electric vehicles, with a range of more than 300 km, to travel long distances and thus to contribute to the development and spread of e-cars in Europe.

The project is coordinated by Enel and developed in collaboration with the utilities EDF, Enedis and Verbund, together with the car manufacturers Nissan and Groupe Renault as well as the Spanish company Ibil, which specialises in charging services for electric vehicles. E-VIA FLEX-E was selected by the EU Commission as part of the call Connecting Europe Facility Transport 2016, and obtained funds that will cover half of the investment required.

By the end of 2018, the installation will begin of 14 ultra-fast charging points, of which 8 will be in Italy, 4 in Spain and 2 in France. The HPC (High Power Charging) points will have a power range of between 150 kW and 350 kW. The new network of E-VIA FLEX-E ultra-fast stations will be flanked by that of EVA+ - Electric Vehicles Arteries - a project co-financed by the European Commission to install180 fast charging points (Fast Recharge Plus) along Italian extra-urban routes within three years. The first 40 fast columns have already been installed and it is already possible to travel, among others, from Rome to Milan in an electric car recharging along the way.
