The Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo is a jewel nestled in the Chianti hills in the province of Florence. The architectural complex is set within fifteenth-century walls and its corner towers stand out clearly in the green scenery of the Val di Pesa.Enel Sole, the Enel Group company with significant expertise in energy retrofitting and the enhancement of historical and artistic heritage, designed and completed an overhaul of the lighting in the entrance hall and refectory of the Tuscan Abbey. The two spaces that were the subject of the Enel X project, which was carried out through Enel Sole, have been equipped with new lights that use the latest generation LED technology. This not only ensures energy efficiency and excellent quality, but also means that the lighting system is less visually intrusive and is in perfect synergy with environmental sustainability.
In agreement with the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, the project conformed to clear indications concerning the positioning of the light fittings within the Abbey with two distinct objectives in mind: on one hand, to illuminate the Abbey in such a way as to enhance its artistic and historical features, on the other, for more functional and practical purposes.
