Enel and Audi join forces on electric mobility in Cortina

A month on from the agreement reached by the two companies, Enel and Audi returned to Cortina in Northern Italy for the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup to showcase the new Audi e-tron, the company’s first fully-electric SUV. To make the “electric” driving experience even more pleasurable and efficient, Enel and the Municipality of Cortina have also begun installing throughout the area two types of public charging stations, referred to as Quick and Fast.

Cortina d’Ampezzo was, in fact, one of the first local councils to sign up to the National Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Plan, presented by the Enel Group last November at the Vallelunga Circuit.  The creation of an electric mobility infrastructure network in Italy’s leading skiing locality sends an important message showcasing the use of e-cars outside of the urban context, while also extending the facilities offered to tourists who already drive electric vehicles.

The deal signed by Enel and Audi Italia offers a turnkey solution to drivers who are interested in new sustainable technologies. Customers, be they private individuals, professionals or small firms, that purchase the new Audi e-tron from next autumn will have access to a bundle package, which includes services and charging infrastructure, available at the German car manufacturer’s dealerships.

To further minimise drivers’ range anxiety, we are working with the Fondazione Cortina 2021 to develop a series of solid initiatives that will encourage electric vehicle use, while continuing to boost the recharging infrastructure in the run up to the 2021 Alpine Skiing World Championships
