Making electric mobility accessible and beneficial for all is the goal of the partnership between Groupe PSA Italia and Enel X, through which anyone who opts for an electric or hybrid vehicle will be able to use customised charging solutions based on their own personal driving needs.
Enel X, the innovative business line of the Enel Group, thus becomes a strategic partner for Groupe PSA Italia, offering all of its technological know-how to make the most of the enormous advantages that the new generation of electric cars by Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles and Opel are bringing to the electric market in Italy.
Gaetano Thorel, Managing Director of Groupe PSA Italia expressed his total satisfaction with the agreement: “Thanks to our partnership with Enel X, we can offer Italian clients of Groupe PSA a comprehensive, transparent “turnkey” service with charging plans that make it even easier to embrace zero emission mobility. Once again, Groupe PSA is confirmed as leader in all forms of electric, sustainable and accessible mobility.”
Alessio Torelli, Manager of Enel X Italia states: “Electric mobility is entering a phase of rapid growth and already represents the only alternative for eco-friendly travel on four or two wheels. Thanks to our partnership with PSA, we offer all those who opt for an electric vehicle the best customised charging solutions in and outside the home.”
With Enel X, three personalised charging solutions have been designed: the Home packagefor the private domain, the Street package for outside the home and the Full Recharge package which includes both services. Whoever chooses the Home package will be able to install a 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW Enel X JuiceBox in their garage for easy charging of their vehicle, while it is parked overnight, for example. With the Street package, clients can purchase a bonus to use Enel X network charging stations; the Full Recharge package combines the home and public solutions for a comprehensive charging experience.
The agreement also envisages the installation of 800 charging points throughout the Groupe PSA Italia dealer network, the first in Europe to be completely electrified, and the integration of Groupe PSA’s Free2Move service within the Enel X e-Mobility network. This synergy has been made possible thanks to the technology provided by the Hubject platform, which will allow clients to easily access public Enel X charging stations using the Free2Move app.
The circulation of the latest 100% electric models of the different Groupe PSA brands, together with the plug-in hybrid versions, depends on the number of available charging stations. To date, there are approximately 9,300 public points installed by Enel X all over Italy and the number is set to grow thanks to the investment plan aimed at creating a widespread and technologically advanced infrastructure. In fact, fears regarding insufficient battery power would seem to be merely psychological, since 59% of daily travels are less than 50 kilometres long on average. This distance can be easily covered by the new electric models of Groupe PSA, thanks to an autonomy of over 300 km certified by the strict WLTP standard. So it is a coverage capable of satisfying over 95% of regular travels.
Whoever chooses a plug-in hybrid modelhas a wide range of options between: the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4x4, Opel Grandland X Hybrid 4x4, Citroen C5 Aircross Hybrid Plug-In, right down to the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4x4, 508 Fastback Hybrid and the 508 SW Hybrid.
The partnership between Groupe PSA Italia and Enel X thus makes the spread of zero emission mobility even easier through the 100% electric models, such as the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, Opel Corsa-e, Peugeot e-2008 or the Peugeot e-208, which has just won the “Car of the Year 2020” Prize.
