The FIA Formula E championship

Enel X is Official Smart Charging Partner and Official Power Partner of the FIA Formula E championship. Its main role is to provide the electric single-seater competition with its JuicePump Formula E Edition charging infrastructure.

Since making its debut in 2015, Formula E has deservedly won over a large number of fans. And although it is not intended to be a rival to the more traditional Formula One, it is certainly very different. One of its main attractions is the concept of “the level playing field.” In Formula One the more successful teams have budgets that are three times those of the teams at the back of the grid, but in Formula E they are more evenly matched. Furthermore, the races take place on city circuits. This tends to produce aggressive driving – and unpredictable results.

If Formula E has become more exciting over the years, then this is also thanks to the role played by Enel X. In the early seasons, battery limitations meant that drivers were obliged to change cars halfway through the race but, thanks to technological advances, that is no longer necessary. The championship has progressed together with electric mobility, and that is the main reason for Enel X’s partnership with it: to show the world that electric vehicles are a totally viable form of transport. They are the future.
